Last year a new tradition-building event was launched, where regional businesses that have achieved outstanding results are recognised and awarded. Three companies in our county received Innovation Awards and recognition this year, in 2025.
The Miskolc Regional Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Northern Hungary have announced a call for applications for the 2025 North Hungarian Innovation Award. The Committee invited enterprises from Northern Hungary that have achieved such outstanding results in innovative technology, product and service development, and IT system development accompanied by an increase in economic performance. The Innovation Awards were presented on February 24, 2025.
The evaluation was carried out by the committee headed by Dr. Attila Nyiri according to four criteria:
- economic utilization resulting from research and development
- originality, novelty
- social utility
- utilization of scientific results
Three entries were received from Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, two of which were awarded the Innovation Prize:
Natur Gold Kft. – The Grana Antico Baking Mix family
Észak-Ferr Kft. – surface-treated contact wires for railways
This was written about us:
“The innovative process of ÉSZAK-FERR, based in Miskolc, prevents moisture from condensing on the contact wires, thus preventing ice formation. In recent years, there has been a strong interest in the surface-treated railway contact wires of Észak-FERR Kft., typically in the Baltic countries. Finished products were also delivered, and the tests showed positive results.”
The award was received by József Csomós, Managing Director and István Barkóczi Dr, Owner of Észak-Ferr.
